General Manager, bcu announces retirement

General Manager of bcu, Mike Ribbens, stands on a beach

We would like to share that General Manger bcu, Mike Ribbens, has announced his retirement. Mr Ribbens will leave the organisation in May this year, bringing to an end a forty-five-year career in the finance industry.

During his seven-year tenure with our organisation, Mr Ribbens fulfilled several Executive roles including CIO, CRO and CFO, before taking on his most recent role of General Manager, bcu following the merger of bcu and P&N Bank in 2019.

Mr Ribbens’ strong and collaborative leadership has been integral in positioning the bcu brand for the next chapter of growth and development. His positive and resilient approach to leading our bcu brand through a time of significant change, especially with the unexpected challenges of COVID-19 has been key to strengthening the bcu brand in northern NSW and south east Queensland.

On behalf of our management and staff, we wish Mr Ribbens the very best for this next stage in his life.

We are pleased to announce that Brendon Comrie, P&N Group Chief Risk Officer, will step into the role as Acting General Manager, bcu while we conduct the search for a permanent replacement.

We look forward to Mr Comrie taking up the acting role and building on the strong foundations of customer loyalty, growth, and community connection that bcu enjoys across the regions.

Mr Comrie is a talented Executive who has worked with bcu since 2018. Given his keen interest and strong understanding of the wider business and his demonstrated commitment to our members and our people, he is very well placed to work with Mr Ribbens on a successful transition.
