Rheannon Chapman knows there’s something special about small communities.

The BCU Bank Home Lending Specialist has lived in the mid North Coast and Hunter region for her whole life and is firmly invested in her local community.

“I absolutely love living in small communities because of the spirit,” Rheannon said.

“When something bad happens everybody bands together to help out, and we celebrate together when something great happens.”

It was this love of community that inspired Rheannon to join the BCU team as the next step in her 20-year banking career.

“I’ve been a lender for more than six years and one thing I love about BCU is that we genuinely care about our members and our communities,” she said.

“Our region has been through a lot over the last two years with the pandemic, and devastating floods and fires that took out a lot of properties, but we are here to help where we can - whether that’s taking a trailer load of flood-damaged items to the tip, helping a member to fill out an insurance claim form, or adjusting a repayment schedule while they are rebuilding their lives.”

Despite the hardships the region has faced, Rheannon has found joy in helping members to achieve their dreams of buying a home.

“There’s nothing like the feeling of calling up a member to tell them their home loan has been approved,” she said.

“Especially first-time buyers, they’re so excited and sharing their joy is the best part of the job.”

Rheannon prides herself on customer service and keeping members up-to-date throughout their home loan journey.

“It can be a very stressful time for members so I make sure they are fully informed every step of the way,” she said.
