The go-to summer destinations for the holidays.

The countdown has begun! The holidays have come back around so quick and it’s time to plan a well-deserved vacation. Whether you’re more of a sit-back-and-relax type of vacationer or an action-packed planner, these Aussie holiday destinations are fit for any and every holiday personality.

Coffs Coast

Visiting Coffs should be a bucket-list item for all Aussies. With so much to do, you’ll be left with plenty of fond memories. For young families, places like the Big Banana and Dolphin Marine Magic are bound to keep the kids busy for the day. For those seeking time away from the busyness of the city, the Ulidarra National Park features the Forest Sky Pier, a 21-meter-long path towering over the forest, offering breathtaking views of the beautiful landscape of Coffs Harbour. Other places to check out are the Solitary Islands Marine Park with plenty of activities including snorkeling and fishing spots, as well as the botanic gardens, Harbourside markets and Muttonbird Island Nature Reserve. You will definitely have a lot to do if you choose to vacation here.

Sunshine Coast

Whether you want something quiet or are looking for something fun to do every day, the Sunshine Coast is so big you’re bound to find something you’ll like in the following holiday hot spots: Maroochydore, Mooloolaba, Coolum and Noosa Beach. Go a little further north for less crowded beaches and an opportunity to really wind down and relax. But if you are after activities, stay close to the southern end where you’ll be near Australia Zoo, Aussie World and a lot of popular beaches like Golden Beach and Kings Beach. Enjoy the food, abundance of amazing rain forests, lakes and waterfalls as well as great accommodation sites all over the coastal areas and inner suburbs.

The Islands

For those who don’t feel like a long drive, but want to get away from the city, halfway from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast are two amazing islands; Moreton Island and Bribie Island. If you’re looking for a short but fun-filled trip, Moreton Island is perfect for you. It’s also a great destination for families that want a mix of fun activities for the kids but also a great time to relax and get some shut-eye. Children will definitely enjoy the ATV Quad Bike Tours, sand tobogganing down the sand dunes and Desert Safari Tours in Tangalooma. Another great island to check out is Bribie Island, a place that is perfect for someone looking for a relaxing vacation. There are so many beaches to check out that aren’t too busy as well as museums and parks if you want to do some exploring.

Gold Coast

As we all know, the Gold Coast is the go-to-spot for catching some good waves, great shopping and of course, the night-life. There are plenty of beaches, great accommodation and you’ve got the best theme parks in town with Movie World, White Water World and Sea World just to name a few, to keep both the youngsters and the adults busy. If you want something different to the Gold Coast, Brisbane is only a short drive away. Drive down drive south and you’ll land in Tweed Heads, New South Wales, a calmer and serene vacation spot for those who enjoy some peace and quiet.

Byron Bay

A little further south from Tweed Heads and you’ll land in Byron Bay. These are go-to places, built just for the vacationers that enjoy a relaxing stroll along beaches and boardwalks. There are plenty of calm beaches, parks, lakes and lookouts, perfect for a refreshing, well-deserved break. There’s something for everyone at Byron Bay as well with golf courses, museums, nature reserves and a whole lot of impeccable beaches.

Port Macquarie

For those wanting to mix a little education and exploration into their holidays, Port Macquarie is a hub for historical memories, museums and even an Astronomical Observatory. There are places for families too with the Billabong Zoo, Jumbo’s Playland and Hydro Golf and Putt-Putt. If you’re looking to relax or have an activity-filled day, you’ll find what you need in Port Macquarie.

The holidays are fast approaching and it’s better to choose a destination before places fill up. There are so many amazing places to check out, right near your doorstep, it’s just a matter of exploring and venturing out!
