For many Maclean locals, Paula Eckersley is a familiar, friendly face.
Since moving to the region with her husband 20 years ago, Paula has come to understand the importance of relationships in small towns.
“My husband’s family has lived in Maclean for a long time – his grandparents ran the local store and my in-laws had a local business so the Eckersley surname is well known,” Paula said.
“I like walking down the street and saying ‘hello’ to people I know – there’s a great community feel."
Paula has worked in the banking industry since she was 17 and recently joined BCU Bank as the Maclean Branch Manager.
“I was always a numbers girl so when the opportunity arose for a career in banking, I took it,” she said.
“I’ve had several roles over the years and my favourites have involved customer service in branches because I love helping people.”
Paula said one of the things that drew her to BCU was connecting with members.
“BCU has been in Maclean for a long time and has a very strong community base, which is really important to me,” she said.
“I’ve previously worked at a major bank and have noticed a big difference."
“We have quite a strong connection with our members and they don’t feel like just a number.”
Paula encouraged Maclean locals to stop in to the BCU branch for a chat.
“I’d love to help with any of your needs or to answer any questions you have,” she said.
“I consider myself to be a very approachable person and I understand the unique needs of our town and its businesses so come in for a chat at any time.”
