Regional First Home Buyer Guarantee

From 31 May 2024, we will no longer be accepting new loans as part of the Home Guarantee Scheme. All customers with current loans through the Scheme are unaffected by this change. Learn more.

What is the Regional First Home Buyer Guarantee?

The Regional First Home Buyer Guarantee (RFHBG) is an Australian Government initiative. It allows eligible regional home buyers to buy or build a home in regional Australia with a minimum 5% deposit, without having to pay for Lender's Mortgage Insurance (LMI). To be eligible for the RFHBG, you must purchase a home in the regional area where you have lived for the preceding 12-month period, or an adjacent regional area. For further information, visit the Housing Australia website.

Already have a current loan through the scheme?

Don’t worry, all current BCU Bank loans within the scheme will continue and there will be no impact on our customers. If you have any queries about your current loan with us, please get in touch with our friendly team.
