This September, bcu are excited to be celebrating our 50 year anniversary.
We’re extremely proud of this achievement and grateful for the ongoing support of our Members and communities that have made it possible.
To celebrate this milestone we are pleased to announce that our bcu Bill Ussher Scholarship will resume this year. This is an important part of bcu’s history, honouring the legacy of our founding Chairman Bill Ussher. This year we will award ten passionate students, trainees or apprentices across the region with $2,000 each in financial assistance to help fund their studies or career development.
To further celebrate our 50 year anniversary, we’re also adding a new tier to the bcu Bill Ussher Community Program - the Bill Ussher Community Grants. Through the grants we will award $50,000 to local community groups or not-for-profit organisations operating within our regions. Supporting our local communities is something we’re passionate about and this is an opportunity for us to give back to the communities and Members who have helped bcu grow to what it is today.
Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions we are unfortunately unable to hold the celebratory events we originally intended. However, please rest assured we will be looking to celebrate this milestone next year pending COVID-19 restrictions, so watch this space!
