Leadership update: Strengthening customer and broker support

We’re pleased to announce Mark Smyth has been appointed as Chief Retail Banking Officer for BCU Bank and our Western Australian brand, P&N Bank.

In this newly created role, Mark will lead the Retail Banking and Broker operations continuing to focus on delivering personalised, community-based service.

Mark is well known to BCU Bank customer and broker partners, having joined the organisation in 2022 as General Manager of BCU Bank. He most recently served as Executive General Manager, Customer Experience, overseeing customer strategy and experience for both brands.

“I’m passionate about supporting our local communities, building strong broker relationships, and delivering value through genuine customer-owned banking.”

Mark brings more than 20 years of experience in banking, lending, and broker services, including leadership roles with a range of customer-owned banks. He also lectures in business and digital strategy at Australian universities, with a focus on customer experience and transformation.

Based in Coffs Harbour, Mark travels regularly across Queensland and Northern New South Wales to stay connected with customers, brokers, and teams on the ground. He is passionate about community outreach and engagement, and is actively involved in a range of initiatives that support health and wellness, financial wellbeing, social housing and homelessness, as well as environmental conservation through both local and national organisations.

His appointment marks a new chapter in our leadership, supporting a more connected experience for customers and brokers across the Group, while maintaining our strong local presence.
