Frequently asked questions
The cost of Travel insurance varies depending on the kind of cover you’d like. For example, Travel insurance which includes overseas medical expenses is typically more expensive than Domestic Travel insurance. Policies with options such as annual multi-trip cover, and cover for a rental vehicle excess or loss of income may also cost more than a more basic level of Travel insurance.
Depending on the type of Travel insurance cover you choose, Travel insurance can often include cover for trip cancellations, compensation for if your luggage is lost or damaged, overseas medical treatment, and emergency expenses assistance. Some Travel insurance policies may also include annual multi trip cover options, where the cover will last an entire year, regardless of how many trips you take.
The reasons that will be covered for trip cancellation will depend on your policy, but most will include injury to yourself or an insured travel companion, natural disasters striking the trip destination, and bankruptcy to the travel company.
Please refer to the relevant Product Disclosure Statement to find out more.
Purchasing Travel insurance may be worth doing to help provide peace of mind while you’re travelling. Travel insurance may help cover you in the event you require emergency medical assistance, and it can also help cover cancellation costs, rental car insurance excess and any loss or damage to your luggage and personal belongings.
