We’ve released an update to the BCU Bank app introducing new payment security features. To continue making payments as usual, you will need to update to the latest version from 30 October 2025.
If you don’t update your app, you may experience issues when trying to make some payments – such as paying someone new or multi-to-sign transactions. Payments made to a PayID or via BPAY won’t be affected.
Once you’re running the latest version of the app, all payment services will work as normal.
What’s new?
We’re introducing Confirmation of Payee – a new security feature designed to help protect you from mistaken or fraudulent payments.
When paying someone new, Confirmation of Payee checks whether the account name you enter matches the account you’re sending money to. It gives you extra confidence your money is going to the right place.
Once Confirmation of Payee becomes available, it will automatically apply to all eligible payments.
What you need to do
To keep all payments in the app running smoothly, you’ll need to install the latest version of the BCU Bank app from your device’s app store.
The easiest way to stay up to date is to turn on automatic app updates:
For Apple (iOS) devices:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to the bottom and select Apps > App Store
- Under Automatic Downloads, toggle on App Updates
For Android devices:
- Open the Google Play Store
- Tap your profile picture in the top-right corner
- Tap Settings > Network preferences > Auto-update apps
- Choose your preferred network method (using Wi-Fi only, or allowing data use)*
*Exact options vary by Android operating system.
Prefer to update manually?
- Open the App Store or Google Play Store
- Search for BCU Bank
- Select Update
Note: If you see “Open” instead of “Update”, you already have the latest version.
If you don’t download the latest version available from 30 October 2025, you may not be able to make external payments to new payees or manage multi-to-sign transfers.
A note on device compatibility
Following this update, the app will no longer support devices running iOS 12 or earlier.
If your device uses one of these older operating systems:
- Update your device’s software if possible, or
- Access all payment functionality using internet banking in your browser.
