How does redraw work on a home loan?

A home loan redraw facility lets you access extra money you've paid into your loan by making additional repayments then withdrawing those funds later (less the next repayment amount).

For example, if you have paid an additional amount of $10,000 into your loan, and your next repayment is $1,800, you'll have an available redraw balance of $8,200.
