What does financial hardship mean?

Financial hardship is when you're faced with unexpected difficulties in meeting your repayments. This could be due to any number of reasons outside of your control including:

  • an accident or serious illness,
  • relationship breakdown,
  • death of a family member,
  • unexpected medical expenses, or
  • a change in employment circumstances such as reduction in hours, redundancy, or other involuntary unemployment.

These circumstances can impact your financial situation and your ability to make repayments to your loans and other credit facilities. We are here to help if you're experiencing hardship or having genuine difficulty meeting repayments.
