As a customer-owned banking group our purpose is to enrich the lives of our members and their communities, and therefore having an effective modern slavery response is important to us. We acknowledge the magnitude of the problem of modern slavery – with over 40 million people in slavery or slave-like conditions worldwide.
In developing our statement, our key focus has been identifying any potential areas of elevated risks of modern slavery within our operations and supply chains, including those that may be in distant tiers, far-removed from the suppliers with whom we have a direct contractual relationship.
