Some members may be aware that I announced my imminent retirement to members at our 2023 AGM, after three years in the role.
I’m pleased to announce that Director, Gary Humphreys, has been elected by the Board of Directors as Chair-elect, with Gary’s term as Chair becoming effective 11 December 2023.
Gary was a former Director of Bananacoast Community Credit Union Ltd (bcu) and he became a Director of PNL in November 2019 upon the successful merger of bcu and P&N Bank.
I believe that Gary is a highly credentialled and experienced non-executive director and executive leader who brings a wealth of experience to this role having successfully led large organisations. Skilled in strategy development and execution, audit, risk management, transformation programs, regulation, governance & compliance, and operations management, Gary has been the Chair of PNL’s Audit Committee for two years and a member of PNL’s Risk Committee.
After four years on the PNL Board, and three years as Chair, I am a believer in leadership renewal and that the time is right to pass the baton on to a new Chair.
We have a talented group of Directors and in announcing my imminent retirement, have provided the Board with the necessary time to ensure a smooth handover.
Reflecting on my time with the PNL Group and prior with BCU, I am proud to have played a lead role in facilitating the merger back in 2019, observed the enhanced maturity and capability of the business, overseen the Group’s successful transformation program, and am confident that the organisation is well placed to deliver on its strategic objectives and benefit from further industry consolidation.
I look forward to working closely with Gary to deliver a smooth and effective transition and am very confident that Police & Nurses Limited, our P&N Bank and bcu Bank brands, our customers and people are in capable and safe hands.
