Target Market Determinations

Providing a customer centric approach

The Design and Distribution Obligations (DDO) requires issuers and distributors of financial products to have a customer centric approach to the design and distribution of their products to help customers obtain financial products that are appropriate for their needs.

BCU Bank is the issuer and distributor of our banking products. We also distribute some products in partnership with other issuers for the benefit of our members – such as the insurance products we provide.

What is a Target Market Determination?

DDO requires a Target Market Determination (TMD) for all of our Consumer products.

A Target Market Determination (TMD) is a document that outlines:

  • who a product is likely appropriate for,
  • how the product may be distributed,
  • why and when this TMD will be reviewed; and
  • obligations of distributors.

We’re here to help, so if you have any questions about a TMD, you can message or email us, call 1300 228 228, or visit your nearest branch.

Please note that a TMD is not intended to provide financial advice. When deciding if a product is suitable for you, always make sure you refer to the relevant product Terms and Conditions and any supplementary document(s) such as the Fees and Charges and Interest Rates Schedule. These will outline the relevant terms and conditions being provided under that product.
