BCU’s Community Saver Accounts were introduced as an innovative way to support local non-profit community groups, schools, clubs and organisations.

CSAs allow you to support these organisations financially without having to dip into your own finances – just nominate a recipient organisation and BCU makes the donations for you!

Here’s how it works:

  1. Open a CSA and nominate a recipient organisation.
  2. Start saving! CSA account holders benefit from free internet and phone banking, and free transfers between BCU accounts. There are no minimum balance requirements and interest is calculated on a tiered basis. CSAs do not incur account keeping fees.  
  3. Each year BCU will donate the equivalent of 1% of your average annual balance to the recipient organisation of your choice. That’s it!

The CSA program has only been running for 18 months.

In the first year, the top-earning organisations received about $400 each in donations from BCU, however this year we expect these groups to earn up to $2,500 – thanks to increased community interest. That’s $2,500 towards administration costs, equipment or new and ongoing projects for very little effort at all.

This time last year BCU had registered 300 CSA accounts holding over $350,000 in deposits. Now, 12 months down the track, we have seen a 375% increase in CSA accounts. What will your group receive this year? It’s never too late to raise awareness and maximise your fundraising dollars.
