Greater Security for You
BCU uses a Card Fraud Monitoring Service to assist with the detection of possible fraudulent activity on Members’ Visa Credit or Debit Cards.
From the 16th August 2010, you may be contacted about suspicious circumstances occurring on your Visa Credit or Debit Card. This is done to ensure the transactions made are authorised by the cardholder and is aimed at providing you with the highest level of security possible.
If you are contacted, and advise that the transactions are not authorised, an immediate freeze will be placed on your card to protect you from further fraudulent activity and loss and a request will be made to BCU to order a replacement card.
If the Card Fraud Monitoring Service can not contact you by phone, and you have previously supplied BCU with your mobile phone number, they will send you an SMS and request that you contact them to confirm the transactions.
Please note that during these security checks you will never be asked for your Pin or Password and if you are ever requested to provide this information, you should cease the call and report the incident to BCU immediately. |

No additional charges for BCU Visa Debit Card holders
There has been recent media coverage about Woolworths' decision to restrict their customers to using the savings and cheque options only on any Visa Debit cards. Visa Debit cardholders are no longer able to use the credit option.
We understand that Woolworths will progressively be implementing this in other Woolworths-owned companies such as Big W, Dick Smith and Dan Murphy’s.
BCU assures members that this is not as a result of anything BCU has initiated and that BCU does not charge our members for using EFTPOS. As a result, BCU members will not incur any additional costs resulting from the Woolworths decision.
Use of the credit option remains available to our members when using their Visa Debit Cards at all other participating stores. |

Confused about the Government Deposit Guarantee?
There has been some confusion regarding the Government Deposit Guarantee.
The Government Deposit Guarantee for amounts up to $1million is still in effect and has not changed. The Government will review the cap level (ie: the $1 million ceiling) in October 2011.
What has changed, is the Federal Government Guarantee Scheme for Large Deposits and Wholesale Funding, which was withdrawn effective March 31, 2010.
This withdrawal only affects depositors who have funds of more than $1 million with BCU (or any other registered financial institution) and who may have requested, or have been considering a request, for a fee to be paid to guarantee those deposit funds in excess of $1 million. After March 31, a fee can no longer be paid to have their funds guaranteed. |

Armidale Futurity Cutting Event |
|
The sand was flying at Armidale’s newly rebuilt exhibition centre
recently when 80 of the region’s best took to the saddle for the
Eastern Falls Armidale Futurity Cutting event.
Sponsored by BCU, the
three-day event is fast becoming a highlight of the cutting calendar
and will be followed by the BCU Uralla Stakes in April. BCU is proud to
support our Agri-business members, like Mark and Tracey Watt, who
followed their dream and founded the Eastern Falls events. To find out
